Install and sign in
Download
Pick your system in Download and install: Windows 10 21H2 or Windows 11 (x64), macOS 13 or later on Apple Silicon, or 64-bit Linux. Each system has its own build and steps there.
Open it the first time
No build is signed with a publisher certificate for now, on any platform. Windows warns the first time you run the installer, and macOS warns the first time you open the app; the steps below get past that, once. Updates are still checked against the release's signed manifest, as always.
- Windows: the build is not signed yet, so SmartScreen says "Windows protected your PC". Click More info, then Run anyway.
- macOS: drag the app to Applications. It carries only an ad hoc signature, so macOS refuses the first open: in System Settings, then Privacy & Security, find the message naming LetMeSoloIT near the bottom, choose Open Anyway and confirm (on macOS 13 and 14, right-click the app, Open, then Open works too). This is needed once. Grant Screen Recording and Microphone on the app's permissions card, then quit and reopen it: macOS applies Screen Recording only after a restart. After every update, macOS treats the app as new: click Grant again; if macOS opens System Settings instead of a prompt, remove the app from Screen Recording with the minus button if it is listed, add it back with the + button from Applications and turn it on, then quit and reopen it (see macOS help).
- Linux: make the AppImage executable and run it; nothing else needs installing.
Review app permissions
The app asks for permissions at startup, never first in the middle of a call. A Review app permissions card inside the window lists every permission your system guards and what the app needs it for: Screen Recording and Microphone on macOS, the microphone switch on Windows, the screen choice on GNOME. A granted one is marked Granted; the others have Grant where the system can ask, and the permission's help. They are recommended, not required: Continue goes on without them. Settings, then Advanced, then Screen capture, then Review permissions opens the card again.
Accept the consent step
Before anything is heard, the app shows its disclaimer and asks you to confirm that you will tell everyone on the call that an AI assistant is listening. Nothing is captured until you accept, and you can withdraw it later in Settings, then Advanced, then Privacy.
- The consent card covers the whole window until you accept or quit
- The disclaimer and terms of use, to read before you accept; it scrolls
- Confirm that you will tell everyone on the call
- closes the app without accepting
- reads the disclaimer larger
- starts listening; it stays dimmed until the box is ticked
Settings, then Advanced, then Privacy keeps what you agreed to and what the app shares, row by row in the picture below.
- Recording consent says when you gave it; takes it back: the window locks and capture stops at once, until you accept again
- Disclaimer: shows it again over the chat
- Third-party licences: lists the licences of the parts the app is built from
- Crash reports (Ask after a crash): a report of a crash stays on this computer and is offered at the next start; Always send sends it without asking, Never keeps nothing. Nothing is sent unless you choose Always send or press Send report
- Share hardware and OS statistics (on): a rough profile of this computer goes to your account's server after you log in; turn it off to send nothing
- Log file shows where the app writes its log, with your home folder as ~, to copy into a support request; opens that folder
Sign in
Sign in with the email and password of your account. Remember me keeps you signed in across launches; without it, the sign-in lasts until you quit. The app never stores your password.
- The lock card: it covers the window while you are signed out
- The sign-in form
- Your account's email
- Your password; the app never stores it
- at the end of the password box (tooltip "Show password", then "Hide password") shows or hides what you typed
- Remember me (ticked by default): stay signed in across launches
- closes the app; every lock offers it
- signs you in
Pick a plan
The app needs a plan: without one, the window opens locked, with only sign-in and the plans. Open Settings, then Account, then Plans, pick a plan and pay in your browser. The app picks the purchase up by itself once the payment is confirmed. See Plans and credits.
