Plans and credits

The plans

  • Own Key Lifetime, paid once: use your own AI (an API key, a signed-in command-line tool or a local model). The only plan that works without internet, up to 30 days at a time, with a local model and local speech. It cannot be cancelled.
  • Own Key Monthly: the same, renewing every month, always online.
  • All-Inclusive, monthly: credits every month for hosted answers and hosted speech, and your own AI as well.
  • Credit Pack, paid once: credits for hosted answers and hosted speech that last 180 days, alone or added to any plan. On its own it does not include your own AI.

Prices and the credits in each are in Pricing. There is no free trial.

What a credit buys

A hint costs credits by its size, and a summary costs like a hint. Hosted speech costs one credit per 10 seconds of audio sent, with or without words, also when it streams; seconds under a credit carry over to the next phrase. Nothing is charged twice: when a speaker changes language, the service hears the phrase again from the audio it already has, at no extra cost. The month's credits are spent before a pack's, and Settings, then Account shows what is left. The app says so when credits run low and when they run out.

Where answers come from

At the top of Settings, then LLM, choose where answers come from: Automatic (the default) spends the month's credits, then the packs, then your own AI; Automatic, keep my packs skips the packs and keeps them for later.

The Provider and Model sections under that row are your own AI. A note under the row says when they answer: with Automatic, only when your monthly credits and packs are used up (or only your monthly credits, with keep my packs); with Hosted model only, never, and the two sections are greyed out; with My own provider only, every answer comes from the provider below. On the Own Key plans, which include no hosted answers, that last choice is the default.

Each route has its own test. sits with your own provider's settings, beside its key or, for a command-line tool, in its Model section, and checks only that provider. , beside the answer-source row of the same tab, sends one short request through our server with your account and reports the round trip, the plan that paid and the cost, 1 credit; it is offered only while your plan or a pack includes hosted answers.

Your own provider's key goes in its key box, masked as dots; beside it (tooltip "Show the key", then "Hide the key") shows or hides the key. A pasted key is kept when you press Save, under the list of sections (tooltip "Save"), like any other field, and beside it (tooltip "Discard changes") drops it, so the key row has no button of its own to save it. inside the Model box (tooltip "Fetch models") asks the provider for the models your key can use and says under the row how it went. A line in the Connection section starts with "Right now": it says where the next request goes and with which key, such as your saved key or a key you pasted that is not saved yet.

The LLM settings: where answers come from, and the model
  1. Answers come from: Automatic (the default), Automatic keep my packs, Hosted model only or My own provider only
  2. sends one short request through our server, 1 credit
  3. Provider (the first choice, which takes any service or local server that speaks the common chat API): your own AI, which answers when the choice above lets it. Answers to phrases in quick succession run at the same time and use credits or quota sooner
  4. Model: the one your provider answers with; pick it from the list or type its id
  5. inside the Model box (tooltip "Fetch models") asks the provider which models your key can use
  6. The line under the Model row says how fetching went, for example that some models are available
  7. Temperature, 0 to 2 (0.3): lower answers more steadily, higher more freely
  8. Response timeout, 1 to 1,800 seconds (30): the time allowed for the answer, not for connecting; raise it for a slow local model
  9. Reasoning effort (provider default): none skips thinking, which is fast, for local thinking models; low, medium and high let the model think more
  10. checks your own provider only
The LLM settings: the provider's address and key
  1. Preset (Custom endpoint): the service your key belongs to, from a list of well-known services and local servers, or Custom endpoint; it fills in the address
  2. Base URL: the API's root, without /chat/completions; you type it only for Custom endpoint and the Azure preset, and any other preset shows its own
  3. Your provider's key, masked as dots; Save keeps it
  4. (tooltip "Show the key", then "Hide the key") shows or hides the key
  5. Where the next request goes, and with which key

The pictures show the first Provider, which takes any service or local server that speaks the common chat API: the Preset names the service and fills in its address, and you type the Base URL only for Custom endpoint and the Azure preset. Pick another provider and the section shows its own model rows instead; two of the choices use a command-line tool you have signed in to, each with its own model and a thinking level, where the lowest is quickest and suits a live call. The Model, Temperature, Response timeout and Reasoning effort rows belong to the first provider. The key rows, and the Right now line, follow the provider you pick.

Buy a plan or a Credit Pack

In the app, open Settings, then Account, then Plans and press Buy; on the website, use your dashboard. Payment happens on Stripe's page in your browser, and the plan appears in the app once Stripe confirms it, usually within a minute. Switching between two monthly plans is not available yet.

The plans, in the Account settings
  1. A plan's card: its price and what it includes
  2. Each card has its own button at the bottom: pays Own Key Lifetime once, starts Own Key Monthly, and opens Stripe's page in your browser to pay for a Credit Pack. A plan you cannot switch to yet keeps its button greyed
  3. A plan's card: its price and what it includes
  4. The card of the plan you hold: its price and what it includes
  5. The tag Current marks the plan you hold
  6. A Credit Pack's card: its price and the credits in it
